Alan Kessler, manager of the Orme Ranch near Mayer, cut beef for the annual Yavapai Cattle Growers Calf Sale and Barbecue on Saturday at Maughan Ranch in Peeples Valley.

More than 1,000 people attended the event, which included western vendors, homemade ice cream, roping dummies, fishing for the kids, and a Quarter Horse Sale.
