Morning fire destroys small restaurant in Cordes Lakes

Mayer Fire Chief Glenn Brown said his department has turned information about a Nov. 11 fire at a Cordes Lakes restaurant over to the Yavapai County Sheriff's Dept.

Mayer Fire responded to the blaze that destroyed the Fiesta Mexicana Restaurant and Bakery on Cordes Lakes Dr. just before 5 a.m. on Nov. 11.

"We are saying it is possible arson and we have turned it over to the Sheriff's Dept. for further investigation," said Mayer Fire Chief Glenn Brown.

Brown said crews could see flames through several windows when they arrived. They were able to contain the fire to about 50 percent of the interior with smoke damage throughout, he said.

The business was not open at the time of the fire and there were no injuries, Brown said.
