News Briefs: Cordes Lakes, AZ

  • A Jam Session takes place every Thursday at Bill Teahon's house, 20273 East Quail Run. Bring your instrument and join in the fun. Call Bill at 772-6044 for more information.

  • A Tribute To Mothers Dance with the Wells Fargo Band will take place from 6-10 p.m. on Saturday, May 19, at the Community Center. Tickets are $15 per couple, $10 single and includes finger food. NOTE: Must be 21 years of age or older.

  • Cordes Lakes Community Association is having a fundraiser for kitchen renovations. First prize is a 40" HD LCD TV and BluRay Panasonic DVD player. Prize includes a Centennial $100 gas gift card. Drawing is Sept 15 at Cordes Lakes Days. Tickets are $5 each, contact Norm Kozak at 928-775-4223.

  • Rifle raffle tickets are available at $5 each for a Marlin 44 Rem. Mag, model 1894. This rifle was listed in the 1995 Gun Digest for $450. Drawing to be at Cordes Lakes Days on Sept. 15. Contact Norm Kozak or CLCA board members for tickets.

  • A teen dance for ages 13 to 18 will take place on June 2. The dance is just for teens, and will include a DJ and black lights.

  • Cordes Lakes has three food programs The 60-plus program (age and income restricted) is on the second Wednesday. Commodities are on the third Wednesday, with produce on the fourth Thursday. For information, contact the community center at 632-9769 and leave a message.

  • Mt. of Faith Lutheran Church will host Summer Vacation Bible School from 6-8 p.m. June 11-15. All kids preschool and up are invited to enjoy Bible stories, music, crafts, videos, Jolly Jump and snacks. This is free to all families for lots of fun!

  • Love Ministry is located at 14720 S. Stagecoach Trail in Cordes Junction in the mobile at the Extra Self Storage. Spring clothing now available, $3 donation requested, if possible. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third and fourth weekends of the month. This months dates are May 18 - 19, and May 25 and 26. Contact Carol Peck at 928- 899-5050.
