Mt. of Faith Lutheran Church, 20135 Stagecoach Trail in Cordes Lakes will have Lent services at 6 p.m., soup supper at 5 p.m. each Wednesday through March 27. Good Friday service is at 6 p.m. March 30, Easter Sunrise is 6 a.m. on Sunday, March 31. Breakfast at 7 a.m., worship service at 9 a.m.

A preschool screening for children ages 2 years 9 months to 5 years of age will be Wednesday, March 13, at the Mayer Elementary School. People who know of such a child can schedule an appointment with the Mayer Unified School District at (928) 642-1008. Please leave a message as we are often out of the office.
Developmental screenings include speech/communication, hearing/vision, motor skills/coordination, cognitive/reasoning, behavior issues, and physical development. Early identification of children with physical, intellectual or emotional problems is the first step in helping them receive an appropriate education.
The district is asking for help in identifying such children who are not in school or are not receiving special education services.

Get ready to go back to that old High School Sock Hop on March 16 at the Community Center with old cars, tractors, etc., on display, and food and beverages will be available. Enter the "Then and Now" contest. Kids games, face painting, a white elephant booth and a horseshoe pit. The Family Dance starts at 6 p.m. Wells Fargo Band will be playing, and Elvis is expected to make an appearance.

The Dewey-Humboldt Town Library offers a free calendar craft for 'Tweens and teens from 12:30-1:30 p.m. on Saturday, March 16, where they will create their own calendar for upcoming months and learn about wacky holidays and national/international event days. Refreshments available.
Every Wednesday after early school release, the library has free Afternoon Games for kids ages 7 and older from 3:15-4:30 p.m. with two dozen board games, plus the Wii on the library's 90-inch projection screen. Kids can bring their Wii Games from home to play.

Mayer Community Church, Pastor Dan Wuthrich, will conduct Good Friday services at 5 p.m. on Friday, March 29. An Easter Sunrise Service will be at 6:30 a.m. on March 31, with Easter Breakfast following from 7:45 to 9 a.m. Easter service will take place at 9:30 a.m. The church is located at 10001 S Fifth Street in Mayer. The public is welcome at these services.
The Easter Egg Hunt will be Saturday, March 30. Ages 1 to 3 start at 9 a.m., 4 to 5 starts at 9:30 a.m.; 6 to 9 starts at 10 a.m. and 10 to 12 at 10:30 a.m. Coffee, juice or milk and breakfast items will be available for sale.
March is National Quilting Month. The Big Bug Charity Quilters have some of their quilts on display at the Mayer Public Library. The Charity Quilters have donated more than 4,600 quilts in the six years they have been sewing them.
These quilts have gone to the Mountain Valley Rehab Hospital in Prescott Valley, home-bound clients of Meals On Wheels along the Highway 69 corridor, kindergarten students at Mayer Elementary, Hospice of the Pines, Grayson House, Home Alliance, VA Hospital and others.
Mayer Off-Road Walkers meet at 1 p.m. every Tuesday, at 13278 Central Ave., Ranchtown Plaza. Easy walks, exploring and metal detecting outings. For information, call 928-308-1411.

Mayer Area Meals on Wheels has a cribbage class that plays on Wednesday afternoons starting at 12:45. It's okay if you haven't played in a while as the group will help teach or refresh your memory.
A beading class takes place every Wednesday afternoon. All instruction is free. Kits are available at a minimal charge.
The Friends of the Cordes Lakes Library will raffle off an Easter basket on Good Friday, March 29. The basket will be on display at the library; tickets are $1 each or 6 for $5. Proceeds benefit the library.
The Cordes Lakes Library has tax forms available and has instruction manuals and tax tables for use in the Library. Computers are available to file on-line.

Get your raffle ticket for the Mother's Day Special. This is a day at the Borgota Salon-Spa at Prescott Resort. The winner will get a one-hour massage, one-hour facial, haircut and style, manicure, pedicure, and up to $25 for lunch.
