Mayer Fire Chief Glenn Brown spent a few steamy July days in Florida, but not for vacation. Brown was invited by the Florida Public Safety Institute to present his experiences at the third annual Rural County Summit and Community Disaster Emergency Response.

Alleged road rage lands Mayer man in jail
PRESCOTT- A man who police said pointed a handgun out the window of his car at another vehicle Sunday morning in a road rage incident on Highway 89A was arrested and charged with felonies.

Richard Boyd, 28, of Mayer, was charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon and recklessly handing a weapon, after he told an officer that another other driver on Highway 89A "had cut him off, which aggravated him," a Prescott Police report said.

Searching for missing people can prove daunting, but if you have the proper training and tools, it's a rewarding job.

Kevin Jones is a retired firefighter and has lived in Mayer since 1995. Jones got involved with the Yavapai County Search and Rescue shortly after spending some time at Ground Zero, six weeks after 9/11.
