Snow King Larry Canaday and Snow Queen Ramona Schweinfurter pose before throwing out the first “snow balls.”
Special to the BBN
Although the weather was mild and sunny on Sunday, Jan. 26, guests entering Mayer Area Activity Center were greeted by a snowy, winter wonderland complete with falling snowflakes and a giant snowman.
As they took their seats, the Spring Ridge Academy girls took drink orders and served up spaghetti and meatballs, garlic bread, salad and dessert. The spaghetti sauce was a made-from-scratch recipe by Karon Trovillion.
After the meal the coronation of the Snow King and Snow Queen - Larry Canaday and Ramona Schweinfurter - took place. The royal couple, who received $10 gift certificates, threw the first cotton snowballs to start the snowball fight. Laughter and joyful faces were abundant as they let loose their inner child to throw snowballs all across the room.
Raffle prizes were listed on slips of paper inserted into balloons, and squeals of delight sounded with each balloon "pop," and when the Spring Ridge girls helped guests find their prizes.
Finally, exquisite snow-white cakes with buttercream frosting were brought out, created and donated by the Mountain Institute Culinary Class in Prescott Valley.
