Cordes Lakes

March 1 will be an early St. Patrick's Day corned beef and cabbage meal at Cordes Kitchen.

High Desert Museum Flea Market from 6 a.m. to 4 p.m. at the Cordes Lakes Community Center. Vendors should call Bill at 928-458-9093 to rent a space. A Stevens Security Model 320 12-gauge pump shotgun is being raffled. Only 200 tickets will be sold, at $10 each. Call Albert at 928-925-6749 for tickets. Lunch will be available from 11:30 a.m.to 2 p.m. Bake sale takes place until all the goodies are gone.

The Arcosanti Resident Art Show runs through April 30. The annual celebration of the diverse artistic talents of Arcosanti's residents, workshoppers and alumni features sculptors, painters, photographers, ceramicists, jewelry-makers, digital artists, fiber artists and more. They display their creations in the cafe, gallery and elsewhere onsite. Mayer

The Mayer Fire Department has entered a team in the upcoming Yavapai Big Brothers Big Sisters "Bowl for Kids' Sake."  The five-member team is collecting pledges to support the Big Brothers Big Sisters program here in Yavapai County. Pledges can be made by going to azbigs.org/bowl or by stopping by the Mayer Fire Department offices at 11975 S. Highway 69, or via email to: gbrown@mayerfire.com.

NACOG Medicare Advocate Micki Shor will be at the Mayer Activity Center at 1 p.m. today, for anyone who sets up an appointment. Call 928-632-7511 to register.

Virtual Cake Walk and lunch on Sunday, March 9, at Mayer Activity Center, 10051 Miami, Mayer. The lunch menu is Shepherd's Pie, salad with dressing, rolls, cakes and drinks for a suggested donation of $7 per adult and $3 per child. There will be homemade cakes to bid upon, raffles and good fun.

Saturday, March 22, is the sixth annual "March For Meals" Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Walk-A-Thon. Pick up your registration form and pledge sheets. Forms are available at Meals on Wheels, 10051 Miami St., Mayer, or call 928-632-7511 to have your form faxed or mailed to you. All pledges go to Mayer Area Meals on Wheels.

The MAYER DAZE Committee is looking for volunteers to help plan Mayer Daze and make it happen on May 10, 2014. For more information call 928-632-9236.

Cleator

A fundraiser for Cathy Cordes, who suffers from leukemia and recently had stem cell therapy, takes place at 1 p.m. on Saturday, March 8, at Cleator, on the road to Crown King. Boots n Spurs Saddle Club is sponsoring the event and proceeds will help with Cordes' medical expenses. The event includes an auction, bake sale, karaoke, live music and horseshoe pitching. Auction items are welcome and baked goods can be dropped off in Cleator from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. any day before the event. A local band will be playing on the back porch and an emcee will be running karaoke on the front porch. Food will be available for a donation.

Sign-in for Horseshoe Pitch is at noon, with competition at 1 p.m. It's a 50/50 blind draw doubles. Entry fee is $10. For more information, call 928-632-8534.

Black Canyon City

The Yavapai County Board of Supervisors, working with the Public Works Department, announces a community cleanup at the Black Canyon City Transfer Station, 21000 E. Landfill Road. The cleanup will be open to Yavapai County residents for no charge from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., on Feb. 26, 28, March 1 and March 5, 7, 8, Accepted items: household appliances, bagged trash, auto batteries, tires, furniture, and yard trimmings. Items that will not be accepted: loose trash, liquids, hazardous materials, cars, Ni Cad batteries, dead animals and no commercial dumping. Cordes Lakes


Free Exercise Class starts at 8:30 a.m. on Monday and Wednesday. Chris Shackelford leads the classes.

TOPS hours are 8:45 a.m. for weigh-in and 9 a.m. for meeting on Fridays.

Storytime for preschoolers at the Cordes Lakes Public Library is at 3 p.m. the first Friday of the month. Miss Tina reads.

Mayer

Big Bug Charity Quilters meet every Monday at the Mayer Senior Center from 9 a.m. to 2:30 p.m.

Every Wednesday is Bingo Night at the Mayer Area Activity Center. New start time: doors open 4:30 p.m., play starts at 5:30 p.m.

Carpenter's Pantry Food Bank is at 10051 South 2nd St. in Mayer. Fresh produce is available from 4:30 to 5:30 p.m. every Wednesday. It will be open from 9 to 10 a.m. on the last Saturday of the month. Sponsored by Springs Church, the program is free to those living in the Highway 69 corridor. MONTHLY EVENTS

Cordes Lakes Brush Yard is open from 7 a.m. to noon on the third Saturday of the month, March 15. For Cordes Lakes residents' personal use only, no commercial use is permitted, and the site is open only at the specified date and time.

Big Bug Gem & Mineral Club meets the third Tuesday of the month at 7 p.m. at the Cordes Lakes Community Center. For more information, call Jack

Love Ministry is at 14720 S. Stagecoach Trail in Cordes Junction in the mobile at the Extra Self Storage. Hours are 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. the third and fourth weekends of the month. For more information or to donate, call Carol Peck at 928-899-5050.

American Legion Post 122 conducts meetings at 2 p.m. on the third Tuesday of the month, at the Cordes Lakes Community Center.

Mayer Fire Board meeting is at 6 p.m. the third Monday of the month at the main location on Highway 69.

New Life conducts Bible study classes open to all at 6:30 p.m. on the second and fourth Tuesdays of each month at Cordes Lakes Community Center.

Spring Valley Property Owners Association meets at 7 p.m. the second Tuesday of the month. Potluck starts at 6 p.m.
