1/16/2013 10:38:00 AM Something from Home makes a big difference in soldiers' lives
In today's Big Bug News, you'll read a story from a soldier whose men benefited from the Something from Home boxes sent by the community and the local American Legion Post #122. Retired Army Sgt. Jellum describes the excitement of men who waited for these boxes which contained such items as toothbrushes and deodorant, along with their favorite candy bars and snack foods. One soldier was thrilled to have a can of popular ravioli!
Imagine being away from home, often in danger, and missing family, friends, and familiar foods and toiletries that we take for granted every day. A few items can make a bright spot for these men and women who are serving in the military.
The American Legion still is sending these boxes, and your help is needed. It costs nearly
$15 each just to send the boxes. If we each committed to send one box this year, at an investment of about $30 total, we could brighten a lot of soldiers' days. You'll find contact information to donate in the article on page one. Let's keep the Legion's Something from Home program alive.
