The Men's cookout at Crystal Lake in Cordes Lakes was quite an outing.
The men used trailers to bring in the equipment, but with the high afternoon winds, putting up canopies, tables and grills was a challenge. Once everything was tied down, it was tied together. If everything did fly with the wind, it would look like a small city floating overhead.
After a short rest, the men came back to cook and serve.
Jack Williamson and Scott McFarland manned the grill while Bill Slankard handled the serving line (along with a few of the ladies). The menu was simple, but ample. The condiments table didn't leave anything out and diners needed a separate plate by the time servers brought out the watermelon.
There was plenty to do besides just listening to the music.
The volleyball court had a lively game going, the horseshoe pit had room for young and old, and the bounce house accommodated those that weren't that athletic.
And the take-down crew was magnificent. Why does it always come down so much faster than it went up? All in all, about a hundred people had a good time at the newly refurbished lake.
