| Big Bug Stables caters to corridor horse lovers |
Cats like to hang around barns and stables and Charles "Cat" Goens is no exception.
This cowboy cool cat opened the Big Bug Stables at the Creekside Preserve Lodge in Mayer a year ago with 11 horses.

| Quiltathon raises $1,700 for Mayer Meals on Wheels |
The Mayer Area Meals on Wheels Quiltathon put on by the Big Bug Charity Quilters came to a climax Saturday, Feb. 27, with a breakfast starting at 8 a.m. at the Mayer Elder's Center.
The quilters were able to make 168 quilts during the month. Two sponsors who donated money to the Quilters, Betty Daugherty and Brenda Mish, won the lap quilts. Wednesday, March 03, 2010

| Teskey is Mayer Citizen of the Year |
The Arizona Highway 69 Chamber Of Commerce chose longtime area resident Bert Teskey its Citizen of the Year for 2009.
The 2008 Citizen of the Year, Sam Mardian, had the responsibility of choosing this year's honoree, so he set up a committee of three and went to work. The committee brought its choice of Teskey to the chamber board and received quick approval, said Glenn Brown, chamber president. Tuesday, December 22, 2009
