Once again, the Phoenix Motorcyle Riders Group descended on the Mayer Elementary School bearing gifts for area children who might not otherwise have had much of a Christmas.

The bikers rolled into town this year on Dec. 8. Excited kids watched them roar up Main St. and into the school parking lot, where lots of hugs were handed out and a few children got to sit on their favorite biker's ride. This year, more than 100 motorcycles of all kinds came along on the ride, followed by cars carrying the items too large for the bikes to carry.

The riders carried the gifts they brought into the gym, and then the fun began as each child's name was called, and he or she excitedly ran down off the bleachers to collect the gifts.

Once all the gifts were distributed, the children, to their great delight, were allowed to open them.

Once again, Principal Patti Leonard, with a few tears, thanked the riders for all the have done for the Mayer children through the years.
