Yavapai County High School graduates Class of 2010
Yavapai County High School's sixteenth commencement took place on May 27 at the Davis Learning Center on the Emery Riddle campus in Prescott.

Fourteen students successfully completed Arizona requirements for graduation and received their diplomas.

Cañon School students are budding photographers
This group of talented youngsters from Cañon Elementary School's 4th, 5th and 6th grades participated in Black Canyon City's 4th annual Photography Contest in April.

Many of the students won awards for their work, including Max Massat, front row third from right, who won a first place and Best of Class award in the Portrait Division.

Canon students, visitors enjoy show of Tesla Coils
Dr. Hakenstein and other scientists, students, and hobbyists from around the country met March 5 and 6 in the Canon School Gym. They came to show students the magic of Tesla Coils.

A Tesla Coil is a resonant transformer circuit invented by Nikola Tesla.

Affordable degrees on fast track for central Arizonans
One of the first things Gov. Jan Brewer did when she took office in Jan. 2009 was to ask the state's higher education leaders to find a way to produce 50 percent more baccalaureate degrees by 2020. When she toured Yavapai College and Northern Arizona University's new joint education building at the Prescott Valley Library campus on Friday, she pronounced it a "miracle."

Canon School begins August 7
Registration for Black Canyon's Canon School students began on July 24 and 25. The first day of classes will be August 7.

Students will need to bring shot records, birth certificate, social security card and any custody papers with them when registering.

Physics enthralled the students at Canon School in Black Canyon City. Nearly all of the students' projects for a recent science fair revolved around the principles of physics - pulleys, weight, motion, etc.

Cloin wins People's Choice in School Science Fair
People attending the Mayer Elementary School Science Fair Open House Thursday chose Ricky Cloin's Balancing Mobile Sculpture entry for the People's Choice Award. Lora Teskey, science fair committee member, said this year's science fair was "such a great success with community and school support."
